MEDICAL PROGRAMS
Physical / Occupational / Speech Therapy
Whether you are recovering from a cardiac event, stroke, or injury, our licensed Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists work with patients to develop an individually tailored program that not only focuses on attaining independence but returning to full function, health and wellness.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants guide patients from illness or injury back to strong and productive lives. We take an effective “hands-on” approach to treatment, using individualized, comprehensive exercise programs and state-of-the-art therapeutic modalities to relieve pain and restore function.

Skilled therapists provide high-quality care to patients with orthopedic and post-surgical conditions, neurological and balance impairments, persistent pain, work-related injuries and women's health issues such as lymphedema and urinary incontinence. Pediatric therapists help young clients achieve both physical and developmental performance appropriate for their age.

Patient and family education plays an important role in our treatment plans. Therapists offer advice on proper posture, body mechanics, and fitness topics. And ongoing collaboration with physicians and other health-care professionals ensures that Wellness Center clients receive maximum benefit from our holistic approach to therapy.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists work to meet the needs of clients with physical and cognitive challenges. Our goal is to help each patient achieve optimal performance in the activities of daily living (ADL) including dressing, grooming, bathing, food preparation, eating, and community re-entry activities. We also help patients recover the ability to perform functions that are specific to their individual lives.

Our California-Certified Hand Therapists provide expert rehabilitation for arm and hand injuries resulting from trauma, degenerative conditions, repetitive stress/strains, and other work-related causes.

Pediatric Occupational Therapists help young clients to achieve both physical and developmental performance appropriate for their age.

Patient and family education for our clients ensures optimal function, adequate pain management and prevention of similar injuries in the future. Ongoing collaboration with physicians and other health-care professionals makes sure that clients benefit from our holistic approach.

Speech-Language Therapy

Our Speech-Language Pathologists are experts at helping patients to overcome communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders. They help patients that have had injuries or illness to regain language, speech, and swallowing capabilities. They also provide comprehensive services to children of all ages with speech, language, and swallowing/feeding disorders. Patient and family education is a very important part of the treatment plan.

Queen of the Valley Medical Center is one of the few facilities in the Bay Area to offer the VitalStim therapy, a treatment used by the Speech-Language pathologist to help re-establish the coordination of nerves and muscles in the throat and mouth needed for proper swallowing. All our speech-language pathologists are VitalStim-certified, which affords clients with swallowing disorders the opportunity to realize optimal treatment outcomes.
